I was reading in Proverbs again one of my favorit books and read this verse. I really need to live by this. Sometime I wonder if why things do not work out the way I dreamed or thought about how they should work is because that is all I have done. I haven't prayed enough, I havent got off my butt and worked towards a goal and I haven't given up the things I need to to put the time and energy into them to accomplish or make it work.
Proverbs 14:23
All hard work brings a profit
But mere talk only leads to poverty.
What do the rest of you think about this verse? Am I on the right track in my thinking on this?
Love you all
Dad

  1. Proverbs are always interesting. I think that you are thinking about it correctly, but I think there is more to it. I think how we view profit and and how God views profit can be completely different. God's view of profit may be a different degree than ours. I know that I often get caught up in what the world views as profitable or successful. Then I think; I have more than enough food to eat, a place to live, clothes to wear, and vechiles that run. All of my basic material needs are provided. What more to I deserve to ask for from God.

As for praying: I can only speak for myself. I know that I no matter how much I'm praying I can always pray more. This reminds me of Peter the night Jesus was arrested. Jesus told Peter that he would betray him three times. Peter said that he would never. Jesus then took him away to pray. Peter continually fell asleep. Even if Peter prayed all night, I still believe he would have betrayed Jesus because Jesus said that he would. Would this mean that Peter failed. Just the act of praying, fasting, or giving up sin in our lives gives us a closer relationship with God or crowns in Heaven. That is the ultimate profit.
